2019 Weddings: Tablescapes

Designing the tablescape is one of the most fun things about wedding planning – for me, at least. Yes, catering and cake tastings are enjoyable, and floral meetings are sweet. But playing with the glassware and linens and base plates and more to design your perfect tablescape is so fun for me.

Head tables aren’t going anywhere, they just evolve over time. Most of my 2019 weddings used a head table, or Kings Table, for their wedding reception seating. In fact, ten of our couples sat at a Kings Table during their dinner reception. Five of them sat at sweetheart tables (my prediction that this trend is continuing is still proven!) One couple sat at a round table with other guests. You can look back at my 2018 head tables, my 2017 head tables, my 2016 head tables and my 2015 head tables.

Ever wonder how to figure out how many people can sit at a wedding table? I have you covered. I also have some thoughts on how to properly set your wedding table.

Sweetheart Tables

I can’t decide how Covid-19 will impact where the couple will sit at their wedding reception. Will the months of isolation drive them away from sweetheart tables, yearning to sit among their nearest and dearest. Or, will they want to maintain distance where possible until everyone has received the coming vaccine. I already predict that we will be using the biggest rounds possible (72 inches in diameter) and seating fewer than normal guests at them (8-10 instead of the typical 11-12.) But what will the couple do? Only time will tell.
