Best Barns for Weddings in Northern Virginia – Updated 2020
I recently spent 8 hours checking out barns all over Loudoun County for my new clients. We were looking for a barn with character, good bathrooms, and decent access to lodging. We looked at 6 together, and the bride had toured 2 others on her own. In the end, they picked Tranquility Farm because they loved the on-site lodging options. But there are so many great options out there! Here is a brief list. If you want to hear more about our tours, or want to go on one yourself, email me!

Wedding barns on the smaller side, unless you have the option to add a tent:
Tranquility Farm – also features a silo available for events, and offers lodging for 6-8 couples on site. You can also set up glamping tents in their field!
Faith Like a Mustard Seed Farm – offers on-site catering, and is adding a set of crossback chairs to their inventory.
Sweeney Barn – not as far out, located in Manassas
Kalero Vineyards – great patio, nicely renovated barn with great bathrooms!
Barns at Hamilton Station – great vistas, great getting ready area, easy to work with venue managers. Photos (above) by Kurstin Roe.
48 Fields – a beautiful setting and on-site equipment
8 Chains North Winery – a new barn-ish room with a pretty patio and great wine
The Barns at Wolf Trap – stay in Fairfax County and still have a cool rustic barn!
Murray Hill – the most amazing waterfront ceremony site
Sylvanside Farm – multiple ceremony vistas
Wedding barns on the larger side for your larger wedding guest list:
Riverside on the Potomac – great ceremony options, rain back up plans, well decorated and appointed for a truly old barn . Top photo from Carly Romeo, bottom 2 photos from Kristi Odom.
Fleetwood Farm Winery – my personal new fave, I can’t wait to work here! The wine is good too!
Middleburg Barn at Foxchase Farm – a really big barn built just with weddings in mind!
Shadow Creek – a big barn built just with weddings in mind!
Mount Defiance Cider Barn – the barn smells amazing, but they are still sorting out the outdoor ceremony area.
Salamander Resort – you can really party in the barn with the horses – and it doesn’t smell bad!
Wedding barns for those who are OK to go further from Northern Virginia:
Pippin Hill – Charlottesville, Virginia – bring a 6-figure wedding budget.
Mount Ida Farm – Charlottesville, Virginia
Rocklands Farm – Poolesville, Maryland – a real working farm with a great barn!
Harwood Farm – and 1840 barn in Woodbine, Maryland. Horses on site!
Vignon Manor Farm – Havre de Grace, Maryland. Rent the whole estate or just the barn.
