Real Wedding at Woodend Mansion in Chevy Chase Maryland
Pippa and Brian had a classically gorgeous wedding at Woodend Mansion in Chevy Chase, Maryland in the late summer. Yes, it was sprinkling just a bit during their ceremony, but that did not stop Pippa and Brian from having the outdoor wedding they so desired. If the bride and groom can handle a little bit of rain, so can all the wedding guests, right? We did utilize the South Lawn of Woodend for the ceremony so that (a) the string quartet was able to stay covered in the tent, but still be heard by the guests and (b) if we needed to make a quick dash for cover, the tent (which was also completely set up for the ceremony – thank you Occasions for having 2 sets of chairs!) is just steps away. Shout out to Michelle Lindsay for these gorgeous photos!
The rain cleared by the time the ceremony ended, and guests were treated to a truly gourmet meal that started with the appetizers and drinks served up by Occasions Caterers at the cocktail hour. I adore a toille linen used outside at a wedding, it is so timeless.
In the dead of summer, light gray suits for the groomsmen and short navy dresses for the bridesmaids are elegant but also appropriate. While the Woodend tent is beautifully appointed on its own, Pippa and Brian brought in John Farr Lighting to add the “fairy lights” that Pippa always imagined would be at her wedding. I think the pale green linens paired with the natural wood chairs are just perfect for a tent wedding reception when you are going for a garden style.
Sidra Forman created gorgeous florals for the wedding, staying true to the English garden feel that Pippa and Brian wanted, but with no real set color palette desired. Patisserie Poupon create a classic white cake with fondant ribbons around the tiers.
Pippa and Brian met at Colgate, and the Colgate Univeristy alumni community is very important to Pippa and Brian, and they celebrated that in many ways at their wedding, including the custom “gate” escort cards, a group photo, and a framed signature mat.
