A Real Wedding at Nationals Park

H and J wanted to give their guests a wedding experience they would not soon forget. So they picked Nationals Park to be their wedding venue. And I think that between the uniqueness of the venue and the quirky personal stamp they put on their wedding day, H and J definitely succeeded! Thanks to Ralph Alswang for the lovely photos! First up, the first look amidst the Lexus Club Seating. Then up to the upper deck for a shot with the Capitol Building in the background. Finally, the whole wedding party got to stand on the dugout (!!!) for a photo op. How gorgeous is the deep red bouquet by Petal’s Edge?

When guests arrived at the park, they had their choice of pennant flags, pom poms and other concessions. The guests were then seated in the PNC Diamond Club area, overlooking the platform behind home plate where the ceremony took place.

After the ceremony there was a traditional cocktail reception with a not-so-traditional activity: batting practice! Guests lined up to take a swing! (PS did you notice the digital fireworks on the jumbo-tron at the end of the ceremony, seen above? So cool!)

H and J love The Muppets. So much that they have Muppets made in their own likeness! When the wedding party was introduced into the reception, the Muppets came in first, followed by “the real” H and J.

Dessert was another place H and J put their personal stamp. In addition to cupcakes from Baked and Wired, they had a cake made of cheese. Yum! The night was wrapped up with a surprise visit from the four original Racing Presidents.
