A Modern Green, Pink and White Washington DC Wedding
Karli and Kevin got married on Memorial Day weekend. I had the pleasure of working with Karli’s brother on his wedding the previous October and the following October I was lucky enough to work with Kevin’s brother on his wedding! We wanted Karli’s wedding to be different from her brother’s, and her brother had a quintessential backyard autumn wedding. So we designed a modern spring wedding at a classic historical property – The Halcyon House (now closed). These gorgeous photos were made by Matt Mendelsohn.
Of course I am hoping that when these young ladies (Karli’s younger sisters) get engaged (many years down the road), I will get to work with them too! How great are the green dresses with the pink peony bouquets? Janet Flowers really outdid herself on this one.
Halcyon House was my favorite venue in the whole DC area. I absolutely loved the juxtaposition of the brick Federalist home framing the ceremony and cocktail reception with the uber-modern artist’s studio in the basement where receptions were held. We kept Karli and Kevin’s ceremony decor soft with the mix of pink, green and white fluffy flowers, but the reception decor utilized only green and white tropical flowers with a lot of glassware. We also brought in elevated Lucite topped tables and tall black chairs to add more dimension to the room.
Aren’t they the cutest? You should see their three adorable kids. Thanks again, Matt, for the photos.
