Vintage Amusement Park Wedding at The Bumper Car Pavilion

Carrie and Jon had the most adorable wedding at Glen Echo Park, a retro amusement park in Cabin John, Maryland. Carrie really took the vintage amusement vibe to heart. Her stationery, designed by her best friend and matron of honor, reminded guests of admission tickets. Carrie wore a modern but short dress and a birdcage veil. She has two shoe changes – white heels for the ceremony and first dance, pink boots for her dance with her dad, and red dancing shoes for the bulk of the reception.

Carrie’s matron of honor not only created all of the stationery items, she also made the ribbon boutonnieres for Jon and his best man, and the paper flower bouquets that she and Carrie carried.

Jon and Carrie had a quaint morning ceremony at a small local church before guests went over to Glen Echo Park for the BBQ lunch reception.

While Carrie and Jon took portraits with Stephanie Ascari around Glen Echo Park, the guests relaxed in the Bumper Car Pavilion and enjoyed classic amusement park fare like popcorn, peanuts and cotton candy. We used colorful Jones sodas in clear buckets as table centerpieces and as a supplement to the sweet tea bar. We also used vintage candies as decor on the cocktail tables.

Carrie and Jon could not imagine their vintage amusement park-inspired wedding reception without carnival games. We brought in three classic games from Talk of the Town Events and placed them inside the Bumper Car Pavilion.

The day was wrapped up with delicious cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcake. Thanks again to Stephanie Ascari for all the wonderful photos.
