Fathom Gallery Wedding | Quirky Spring DC Wedding
Jessica and Chris found me through an old college friend and I had a blast getting to know them and helping them plan their Fathom Gallery wedding. I’ve admired Fathom Gallery from afar for many years. It is a vibe that is right up my alley. But it is small, and smaller weddings don’t often include wedding planners or coordinators. Which means I was excited at the chance to work there on behalf of Jessica and Chris and their 55 guests.
If you are also planning a small wedding (which we also call cozy or intimate here in the wedding blog world) check out this Hendry House wedding and tented reception, and this Virginia private home wedding for more planning ideas!
Jessica got ready at The Darcy, which is a lovely hotel near Fathom Gallery. She had an awesome squad of friends and family who helped with flowers, wedding decor and the delivery of other items to Fathom Gallery before the wedding. But this resulted in Jessica and I being alone in the hotel suite with the photographer before she got dressed. This meant that I tied up the corset back of her dress. This is why I say I learn something new at every wedding!
FIRST LOOK – FATHOM GALLERY WEDDING
FATHOM GALLERY WEDDING CEREMONY
The Fathom Gallery rooftop is a gorgeous place to get married! It can also be a tight squeeze. This wedding had about 55 total guests. We were able to have a small aisle and a seat for everyone who attended. Truthfully, having a wider aisle would have been nicer, given that often the bride or groom is walking down with both parents.
FATHOM GALLERY WEDDING RECEPTION
This Fathom Gallery wedding featured limited seating and a dinner buffet that was friendly to eating while standing. We used the tables and chairs that Fathom Gallery provides, and brought in 2 more tables for total of 36 seats inside. We tucked a sweetheart table in the corner and left the rest of the space near the windows open for dancing. The buffet and cake table were near the stairs and the bar was in the kitchen. Chris is Canadian, and his Canadian family members enjoyed the outdoor patio, despite it being a somewhat chilly April evening to me!
