Happy FIFTH Anniversary Nikia & Andre!
Confession: I had to look up the year of Nikia and Andre’s red and purple Baltimore American Visionary Arts Museum wedding to figure out which anniversary this was. And I was surprised that their wedding was 5 years ago. This wedding feels like it happened so much more recently to me.
I love their Willy Wonka-inspired wedding so much and haven’t worked with as great of a theme since then. I had a lot of literal ideas based on the original movie, and the couple went for nearly all of them.
The American Visionary Arts Museum in Baltimore was the perfect setting for this whimsical and eclectic wedding design, and I would love to be back at AVAM more often – I’ll be back in July and it will be my first time back since this wedding. AVAM is such a wonderful place to work, and it lends itself to colorful, modern weddings, which are our lifeblood at Bellwether Events.
Thanks to A Britton Photography for the beautiful wedding pictures. You can see more of their photos and hear from Nikia here.
I wish we had been able to find a purple carpet! it is hard to see, because I DIYed the project and I got the scale wrong (too small) but we had filmstrip looping around the ceremony arch. I should have tripled the film used here.
You have to have half of a wedding cake covered in pop rocks for a Willy Wonka wedding. It’s basically required.
