Spy Museum Rooftop Wedding
We had the pleasure of planning a rooftop wedding at the Spy Museum this last August. The Spy Museum reopened at its new location (L’Enfant Plaza, near the Southwest Waterfront) in the summer of 2019 and brought with that two amazing spaces for weddings. On the roof, you have an all-glass room that can hold about 120 for dinner; surrounded by a gorgeous terrace overlooking Haines Point. One floor below there is a huge ballroom, contemporary in style, with floor-to-ceiling windows that also show off the Washington Channel.
Spy Museum Rooftop Wedding Ceremony
With a rooftop wedding, I am always considering what the wind will impact. A bride’s veil. Wedding stationery items and poster signs. And definitely the florals. So for this contemporary-styled wedding, we went with encasing the altar arrangements in acrylic columns to protect the blooms from the wind. We later moved these column arrangements to in front of the bar, where they helped frame the hanging neon sign behind the bar.

After this rooftop wedding ceremony, the guests went down to the Veil for the cocktail reception. We flipped the rooftop space for the stations-style menu that was featured during the wedding reception. Guests were treated to a bourbon bar in addition to the regular open bar.
