NYE DC Hotel wedding - Park Hyatt - New Year's Eve - black and white and gold and silver

Park Hyatt DC Wedding on New Year’s Eve!

A DC New Year’s Eve wedding had been on my bucket list for a long time. Champagne and confetti? All day. A palette of black and white with all of the metallics? Perfection. But the best part about this wedding was the amazing people I got to plan it with. We had less than six months to plan, and they trusted me implicitly, which is the best way to plan a wedding with a wedding planner!

Kim is so unbelievably gorgeous and Sam is so completely handsome they look like models. After a first look at the Park Hyatt, they went with Kurstin over to the Kennedy Center for some outdoor portraits.

A typical DC wedding ends at 11 pm, so the wedding ceremony often begins at 5:30 pm. But for New Year’s Eve wedding, you will want the party to last until 12:30 or 1:00 am. This means your ceremony should start around 7:00 pm. A later start time for the wedding ceremony can allow for a longer photo session beforehand, which can result in some stunning portraits.

Black Tie wedding party

What a stylish group. I love a black bridesmaid dress. Even better when they don’t all match and everyone can dress to their strengths. We got so many photos accomplished before the ceremony, and while guests arrived, we did the ketubah signing.

We had three champagne pours throughout the night. The first was when guests arrived to the ceremony. The second was during dinner, alongside the toasts. The third as at midnight, duh. And we did pass out the classic hats, headbands, beads, and noisemakers – the pro tip is to start doing that at 11:40 pm because midnight will sneak up on you! I think we squeezed in a 14-second countdown for this wedding!
