Kids Birthday Parties | Happy Birthday Scarlett!
Today is Scarlett’s sixth birthday. We had her birthday party (jointly with her brother, Reed, who turned 3 in early July) 2 weeks ago. It was exercise themed, and so much fun. I know the parents appreciated taking home exhausted kiddos. I’ve known Scarlett and Reed’s parents since we were all in elementary school. It has been a true joy to help them with these birthday parties over the years. And it is even more fun to look back and watch Scarlett grow up in the photos!
First Birthday: Row Row Row Your Boat theme
Row Row Row Your Boat was a song that Scarlett loved to hear her mom sing to her at bedtime, so of course it was a great choice for her first birthday party theme. This cardboard boat was made by my husband and accessorized by Scarlett’s dad Brett. We wanted it to be a photo booth for the party, but it was so hot, most guests stayed inside the house this year. This first birthday cake by Charm City Cakes in Baltimore is my all time most popular pin on Pinterest. Partly because it is so gorgeous and partly because it arrived on Pinterest in the early years and has had lots of time to grow.
Second Birthday: Bubbles & Brunch theme
I don’t quite remember the origins of this theme, but it was so fun to execute. We had the clear bubble pit. We had a bubble machine and so many bubble wands, and we had a bubble wrap popping station. And of course all of the bubble shaped brunch food items! It was a blast, and the last birthday Scarlett would celebrate without her little brother.
Third Birthday: Lil’ Stinker theme
This theme was coined by Scarlett’s grandma Lois, who regularly called Scarlett a “little stinker” when she was misbehaving, as toddlers do. Terra used a skunk motif and a pink, black and white palette to bring the theme to life. I was so amazed with Terra throughout this party, because Reed was about 3 weeks old at this point! As you will see, the skunk temporary tattoos were a big hit!
Fourth Birthday: Carnival Fun theme
For Scarlett’s fourth birthday party (and Reed’s first) we had an awesome carnival themed party, complete with games, face painting and a clown! My husband made this big top photo booth as well!
Fifth Birthday: Rock Star Karaoke theme
Can you even believe this stage that Brett made? It was incredible! The kids had a great time singing along to songs like Hello by Adele and Let It Go from Frozen. Don’t overlook Scarlett’s wardrobe change!
All photos are by Tim Riddick, except the second birthday, which was by Stephen Gosling.
