Spring Wedding: Hotel Monaco DC

I love these nerds. I’m allowed to say that because (1) they got married on Pi Day and embraced the theme wholeheartedly and (2) I’m also a nerd. Yes, this wedding day was March 14, 2015, or 3/14/15. Pi is 3.1415926…. They picked the Hotel Monaco for their wedding in part because Poste (the former Hotel Monaco restaurant) was where they had their first date – awww! We knew we wanted to incorporate forsythia in the decor, as it was a flower used at Erin’s parents’ wedding 30+ years ago. So for a vibrant yellow we paired a bright blue for this early spring wedding.

Also don’t miss the other times I’ve worked at Hotel Monaco, with this elegant autumn wedding, this jazzy autumn wedding reception and this special wedding ceremony.

Hotel Monaco provides so many awesome places for photo opportunities, I love all the stuff that Kurstin Roe got that day! I am also obsessed with the floating chuppah that Petal’s Edge created for this couple. A suspended cloth with candles and blooms hanging at each corner allow for the best view possible during this ceremony in the round – while still honoring the concept of a chuppah in this interfaith ceremony. And here we see the killer forsythia! We moved these pieces to the dinner tables after the ceremony was over.

Its pretty much become a rule that all my clients have at lease one sequined linen from La Tavola somewhere at their wedding. Here we used it on the head table, so it would stand out just a little from the rest of the room.

Five flavors of pie on the dessert buffet, along with many many other options. We also did a temporary tattoo bar for the guests during the reception. In addition to this Pi tattoo, there were anatomical hearts (Erin is in medical school) and pretty “love” tattoos as well. Not picture is the DC Slices truck that arrived at the end of the reception for guests to enjoy more pie (of the pizza variety) and their world famous tater tots.
