Capitol View at 400 wedding rooftop Jewish ceremony

Capitol View at 400 Wedding

This was my first wedding at Capitol View at 400, which is a really fantastic rooftop venue in DC. As the name suggests, you have a direct view of the Capitol building, which impresses your out-of-town and local wedding guests.

931. That is how many days Molly and Dylan were my clients. No, this is not typical for me. Yes, they were a 2020 couple who eventually ended up postponing their wedding by 2 years. You’ll see below their original date was still embroidered in Dylan’s suit, and three of their four save the dates (the fourth one was digital only.)

Molly and Dylan did get legally married before this celebration. They also moved out of the area, and Dylan started grad school. All these life changes made the public affirmation of their marriage even more special, I think. We had three family tallit on the chuppah top. Olive the dog was absolutely the star of the show.

It can be hard to tell, but the ceremony space at Capitol View at 400 is long and narrow. I think we had 4-6 chairs on each side of the aisle, with there being about 15 rows. I recommend having a PA system for your officiant so that the guests in the back rows can still hear.

Capitol View at 400 has two spaces to use for your wedding, so while the guests go to cocktail hour (seen in the first photo below), the ceremony area is turned over for the reception. Both tents shown are permanent at the venue and included with the rental.
