Wedding Trend: Paper Flowers
My best friend used paper flowers in her wedding 21 years ago – she spent over a year making them by hand from Paper Source kits to match her jewel-toned Alice in Wonderland-themed wedding. I surprised clients of mine in 2012 with crepe paper flower tie-backs for their drapery. In 2015, the paper flower wall trend was going strong, and we were using them as photo ops, ceremony backdrops, and as escort card walls. I even used one in a styled shoot in January 2020. You can find 9-year-old Reddit threads discussing the use of paper flowers at weddings.
The point is, paper flowers never went away, but how we use them in weddings is always evolving. The Wed said back in March that oversized paper flower installations are a trend for 2025. The fact that these flowers are oversized aligns with the trend that minimalism is on its way out and maximalism is making a comeback for weddings.
Wedding Accents: Paper Flowers
You can use paper flowers sparingly. Maybe you add one or two stems to your bouquet, or you make a boutonnière, or each wedding attendant carries one large paper flower stem.
If you have a wedding theme that incorporates books or maps, this is a great way to incorporate book pages or vintage maps.

Wedding Centerpieces: Paper Flowers
You can invest in paper flowers to be your tabletop decor or centerpieces. This will likely not be cheaper than using fresh flowers. However, the paper flower centerpieces will last years and years, and would make a nice gift to your wedding guests.
