Tred Avon Yacht Club Wedding

I love the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It is dotted with quaint towns, gorgeous waterfront properties, and countless local ice cream shops. One of those small towns is Oxford, Maryland, home of the Tred Avon Yacht Club. And the Tred Avon Yacht Club is a gorgeous place to host a waterfront wedding.

This is my second time working with the Sutton Family. The older daughter was married in 2010, and I was her wedding planner. Nothing is more of a compliment when a family comes back to us, years later, for help with another milestone event. It was also quite funny that while they were not married on the same day, they were married on the same 3rd weekend in September!

Both the bride and groom had older siblings, so there were lots of children at the wedding, which always provides for great photos. But the star of the show was definitely the couple’s 100% purebred good boy Sonic.

The couple did not do a first look, so all of their portraits were captured after the ceremony. We always start with the largest groups first and then do the couple portraits last so that most guests can enjoy the cocktail reception. It was really nice how close everything was at Tred Avon Yacht Club. It wasn’t a far walk to get anywhere we wanted to go. We even got the couple up to the roof deck for a drink before the canon was fired, and the guests headed to the tent for the wedding reception.

The tent is a rental at Tred Avon Yacht Club, so you have some flexibility on what yours could look like. Don’t forget that with a pole tent, your floor plan will have to be worked around those poles. And remember that waterfront wedding venues suffer from a lot of unpredictable wind. Stationery and lightweight florals are prone to blow away. Candles will be hard to keep lit.
